Aldi has confirmed it has lodged a planning application with Fife Council for a proposed new store in South Road, Cupar.
It follows a round of consultations including a public exhibition held last month at the Corn Exchange.
On the feedback from these consultations, Graham Nicolson, property director for Aldi Stores Scotland, said: “We are delighted to have been given such a warm welcome by the Cupar community. The feedback received from some 350 visitors to our public exhibition and an earlier preview for our immediate neighbours and community representatives demonstrates 97% support, a very high approval rating.
“There was also strong support for bringing the Aldi brand to Cupar shoppers. These figures are contained in a consultation report lodged with the planning application now being considered by the council and we await their decision in due course.”
