A Kirkcaldy man filmed a teenage girl undressing and showering in a bathroom with a hidden camera.

Scott Duncan made excuses to go into the bathroom before the teenager so he could plant the device in a hidden location.

He used a modified toilet roll holder to hide the camera, which was pointed at the shower and recorded the girl. Police discovered 73 movies and 90 images of the girl on the 45-year-old’s laptop.

Duncan, of Percival Street, admitted between October 5 2012 and March 24 2013, at a different address in Kirkcaldy, he operated equipment with the intention of observing a girl, then aged between 13 and 16, doing a private act and repeatedly filmed her while in the bathroom undressing and showering. He also admitted taking indecent photographs of a child.

At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday, Sheriff Max Hendry told Duncan: “I need to know more about you before I pass sentence. This is a serious matter. I will suspend judgment until the reports come back.”

Depute fiscal Beverly Adam said suspicions were raised when the accused got into the habit of going into the bathroom just before the girl.

In the bathroom, two aftershave boxes with holes in them and an adapted toilet roll holder which had been used to hold the camera were discovered.

Ms Adams said: “During his first police interview the accused said…he was going to kill himself.” The accused said he did not distribute the movies.

Duncan was granted bail until February 17.
