Cheryl Cole gets new neighbour at Fife manor

Lady Sandra and her butler for the day, Mr Watson.
Lady Sandra and her butler for the day, Mr Watson.

When I came into work on Wednesday I was just an ordinary quine from Aberdeenshire.

By lunchtime I was a member of the landed gentry and boasted a pop star as a neighbour.

Inspired by Cheryl Cole, I purchased my own piece of the Bandrum Estate, near Saline in Fife, making me an official lady of the manor.

The former Girls’ Aloud singer received a similar gift from Simon Cowell, who paid the princely sum of £19.95 for a “deluxe” land pack.

Cole unveiled her new title on Twitter, posting a photo of her certificate alongside a message to the X Factor supremo, stating: “I will now be referred to as Lady Cheryl Cole when you address me both in person and through the media.”

Not having Cowell’s millions in the bank, I plumped for the basic pack at under a tenner, which offers the same rights but lacks a car window sticker.

After printing out the deeds, I noted that for the next 175 years, I will have an estate next to “Lady” Cole’s I was keen to see my plot of land, but before I headed to Fife I had to ensure I looked the part.

Fortunately, Utopia Costumes on Dundee’s Perth Road was able to help out with an outfit, and I even managed to recruit a butler in the shape of Jonathan Watson, from The Courier’s Kirkcaldy office.

When we arrived at Saline, a chariot awaited at the golf course and volunteer Andy Pryce kindly took us to my newly-acquired estate, which offers stunning views across the Forth and towards the two bridges.

Definitely £10 well spent.
