NHS Fife has confirmed a meeting is to take place between Councillor Helen Law and chief executive John Wilson to discuss concerns raised over services at Victoria Hospital.
Last week the councillor for Dunfermline North arranged a meeting in the town to allow the public the chance to air grievances over local services.
Mr Wilson was unable to attend the meeting, at which around 50 members of the public gathered and added their voices to growing concerns at the rising tide of criticism over the treatment of patients at the Kirkcaldy hospital since its £170 million new wing opened just over a year ago.
Mr Wilson has arranged a meeting with Mrs Law and said he welcomed the opportunity to meet the councillor to discuss the issues which have been raised and to outline the improvement work that is taking place within NHS Fife.
“We are aware that not every patient experience has been positive but are taking active steps to address areas that require additional support,” he told The Courier.
However, he went on to list improvements in the pipeline.
“Last week we announced that a further £2.733 million was being invested to enhance the patient experience, along with continued work to improve the four-hour emergency access standard and further development of alternatives to inpatient treatment.
“We know that patients from Dunfermline and West Fife have already benefited from the development of Hospital at Home, which operates out of Queen Margaret Hospital and provides a real alternative to acute hospital admission. This service is now being rolled out across Fife.
“I look forward to exploring all this work in more detail with Councillor Law,” he added.
Last week’s funding announcement included the recruitment of 10 whole time-equivalent consultants and 20 nursing Allied Health Professionals and support staff in a range of specialties, to meet increasing capacity demands.
The recruitment process for these posts is already under way.
