THE COUPLE behind one of the country’s most famous children’s acts are taking their final bow on home turf.
Singing Kettle creators Artie Trezise and Cilla Fisher have begun their last tour on stage at the Rothes Halls in Glenrothes.
The husband and wife duo announced in October they were retiring from performing, after entertaining over five million children over the last 30 years.
Their final show fronting the band, Fairytale Christmas, opened yesterday, just a few miles from their base in Kingskettle.
Even a power cut just moments before the curtain went up was not able to hold the pair back.
Cilla, who is to be replaced by a new female member, said: “It’s been a bit strange knowing this is the last time we will be touring.
“We want to thank all our Kettle fans and are really looking forward to saying farewell and having one last emotional singalong with everyone during ourFairytale Christmas tour.
“We have had an amazing journey to arrive at this point and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
“This isn’t the end of the Singing Kettle, it’s the beginning of a new chapter.”
Artie and Cilla will continue working backstage, writing songs, producing shows and directing DVDs and CDs.
They are in the process of recruiting the new member to join fellow Kettlers Gary Coupland and Kevin Macleod for the next tour in March.
Yesterday’s show was the first of eight at the Rothes Halls.
They will also perform at nine other venues during December and early January.
