Traffic lights fault causes major delays on Leuchars to St Michaels road

Motorists on one of North-East Fife’s busiest roads should enjoy a stress-free drive today after rush-hour chaos this week.
Some motorists on the A914 Leuchars to St Michaels road were forced to wait for over an hour on Monday evening and Tuesday morning due to the timing of temporary traffic lights on the stretch.
The problem, discovered once contractors had left the area on Monday night, was compounded on Tuesday morning when a vehicle broke down, preventing the lights from being removed.
The lights were required after excavation work was carried out on a pavement on behalf of Scottish Power.
A statement from Fife Council read: ”It was intended that the traffic lights would be removed first thing in the morning, however, a vehicle breakdown meant the contractor was unable to collect the lights as early as planned.”
The lights have been removed and traffic flow is now at its usual level.
