A FIFE project to help people get back into work will be created thanks to government funding.
A social enterprise scheme is to be established in Leven after the Treasury awarded £175,000 for the initiative.
The funding will be used to create a wide range of training opportunities in the area, linked to sustainable projects.
The scheme is among the first of 19 across Scotland to get a share of a multi-million pound fund to regenerate coastal communities.
Danny Alexander, the chief secretary to the Treasury, made the announcement yesterday and hopes that initiatives like those set to start in Leven will make a difference to local communities.
“This funding can make a real difference to the winning areas and help them become more economically sustainable,” said Mr Alexander.
“The fund received a large number of applicants and will continue every year so that we can help more innovative projects in Scotland, and across the UK.”
The Coastal Communities Fund was launched last year to support the economic development of coastal areas across the country.
A pot of nearly £4 million was on offer to towns and villages throughout Scotland, with a further £4m available next year.
