Deer killer in court over bail breach

Teenage deer killer Brandon Robb has admitted threatening to beat up a 14-year-old boy while banned from contacting children.

Robb, who is serving an eight-month prison sentence, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with breaking bail.

The 17-year-old, of Paterson Cottages, Leslie, had previously admitted using his pet dog to hunt and kill an exceptionally rare piebald deer.

Robb killed the deer while awaiting sentence for stealing 30 ducks from a farm near his home with friend Benjamin Murray. He was granted bail on August 13 last year under the condition he did not have contact with any child under the age of 16.

However, he admitted being in the company of three children under the age of 16, including one girl aged 13 and two boys aged 14, on February 17 at Back Braes Playpark, Croftouterly, Leslie.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by threatening violence to a 14-year-old boy on the same date and at the same location.

Robb committed the offences while already subject to three other bail orders.

He was sentenced for killing the piebald deer at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court last month.

The teenager admitted using a lurcher-type dog to hunt and kill a piebald deer at Ballingall Farm, Leslie, when he did not have the legal right to take or kill deer, on March 16 and 17. He also admitted that between January 1 and March 17, at the same farm, he hunted deer with dogs, as well as assaulting Dominic Trojanowski on February 19 and four bail breaches.

Furthermore, Robb and Murray, of Greenside Court, Leslie, were convicted of stealing 30 ducks from Meikle Balquhomrie Farm, Leslie, between July 29 and August 1 last year.

Robb’s solicitor, David Cranston, said his client was making positive progress while in custody and had been taking part in education lessons that he had been enjoying. Robb will return to court in July to face sentence for breaching bail and stealing the ducks.
