Crieff Hydro Hotel’s £100 million plans to build 200 lodges and a 100-bed care home are ”going back to its roots”, it was claimed this week.
The public had the opportunity to view the proposals for the expansion of the hotel at a public exhibition held at Crieff Hydro Hotel on Monday.
A proposal of application was lodged with Perth and Kinross Council in August for the greenfield site near Gilmerton. The hotel also wants to build a swimming pool, spa, cafe, nature reserve, observatory and establish a level of ”trust” with the care home at ”Crieff Hydro East”.
Graham Black, development director with Crieff Hydro, told The Courier the majority of investment will be coming from the hotel itself but said there has been a lot of interest from other parties.
”This would be a £100 million investment and carried out in five phases up to 2032,” he said. ”The first stage would be to put the infrastructure in place.
”We have 550 staff at Crieff Hydro and plan to build 200 self-catering lodges with a 100-bed care home.
”When the site was founded in 1868 as a hydropathic establishment by Dr Thomas Henry Meikle, the ethos was to look after people and we are going back to those roots with these plans that will be our legacy.”
