Pupils gather to talk independence at Perth and Kinross Youth Council debate
ByRichard Burdge
Young people who have been given the opportunity to shape Scotland’s destiny are taking part in a major debate in Perth today.
Hundreds of school pupils in Perth and Kinross are discussing the questions arising from the forthcoming independence referendum in 2014.
The Young People’s Question Time organised by Perth and Kinross Youth Council is being held at the North Inch Community Campus in Perth from 2-3.30pm.
A diverse panel, including representation from the Yes Scotland and Better Together campaigns, as well as independent, impartial commentators, will consider the issues being raised by the referendum taking place next September.
The event, thought to be the first of its kind in Scotland, is being chaired by Courier deputy editor and former political editor Steve Bargeton.
