Four days of repairs after lorry accident on Friarton Bridge
ByThe Courier Reporter
The lorry toppled during the storm on December 6.
Four days of parapet repair works will be carried out on the M90 Friarton Bridge and are expected to cause significant, but unavoidable, disruption for motorists.
They begin on Saturday and will see the southbound carriageway closed to traffic between 7.30pm and 7.30am.
Thereafter, a single lane closure on the southbound carriageway of the M90 will be in place to protect the workforce.
BEAR Scotland’s Andy Thompson said: “The repair works to the bridge parapet are required following the incident involving an overturned lorry during last week’s high winds. “We have planned these works to minimise disruption but some delays are possible and we would encourage motorists to allow extra time for their journey.”
Perth was left gridlocked following last week’s accident, with the lorry hanging precariously over the edge of a 100-foot drop.
The bridge was closed to traffic for hours after the accident.
Though some repairs have already been carried out, further closures are required to complete the work.
