Motorists can expect delays when roadworks begin on the A9 Perth to Inverness road near Blair Atholl on Wednesday.
The work will take place between 7am and 7pm in the vicinity of Essengal junction and will involve the renewal of the existing road surface and associated road markings.
As a result, a convoy system, affecting both carriageways of the A9, will be in place from Wednesday to Friday. Road users are advised they should expect some delays.
Outside working hours there are not expected to be any traffic restrictions on the A9 or at the Essengal junction.
The link road between the A9 Essengal junction and the B8079 to Blair Atholl will also be closed during the works. Traffic from Blair Atholl will be diverted along the B8079 through Killiecrankie to join the A9 at the Pitlochry north interchange.
Traffic travelling to Blair Atholl will be directed to leave the A9 at the Pitlochry north interchange and travel north on the B8079. The Bruar junction will be open as normal.
BEAR Scotland’s spokesman for the North West Unit, Eddie Ross, said: “The decision to close the link road will result in some short-term inconvenience for road users but will provide a safer working environment for our workforce.”
Should works overrun or be delayed they will be rescheduled.
