Baby treated for smoke inhalation after tumble dryer fire in Perth

A baby was treated for smoke inhalation today following a fire in a Perth flat.

An ambulance was called to the first floor home in Strathtay Road around 12.12pm as a precautionary measure.

It’s understood the smoke came from a tumble dryer.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the baby had been treated for smoke inhalation.

“Four appliances attended the scene after we responded to reports of a flat full of smoke,” she said.

“The four units were needed as it is a six-story building, with the flat in question being on the first floor.

“An ambulance was requested as a precautionary measure for a baby with suspected smoke inhalation.”
