Arbroath manager Paul Sheerin to face drink-driving charge

A well-known Tayside football club manager is expected to appear in court next month in relation to an alleged drink-driving incident.
The Courier understands Paul Sheerin of Arbroath FC was charged by Police Scotland, Tayside division on Saturday morning.
The force confirmed a 38-year-old gave an undertaking to appear in court in connection with a drink-driving offence after being pulled over by Perth police in Dundee Road.
The Perth-based player-manager is understood to have been travelling home on the A90.
A police spokeswoman said: “There was a male apprehended for allegedly drink-driving on Saturday morning in the early hours. He was apprehended in Perth, in the city’s Dundee Road.
“I can confirm a 37-year-old male gave an undertaking to appear at on June 14.”
Sheerin guided Arbroath to the Third Division championship in his first season in charge, the club’s first national trophy win in their 133-year history.
This followed a successful six-year career at St Johnstone.
