KEY PRIME locations in Perthshire are seeing a sudden rush of buyers as the year ends, according to a leading property firm.
Savills state that various properties are selling for high prices, which is not common at this time of year.
This follows on frompositive figures released earlier this year by the Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre (PSPC), which revealed that nearly £70 million-worth of homes had been sold since the turn of 2012, and that the average property sold in the first six months in Perthshire achieved just over £140,000.
Yesterday, Carl Warden of Savills Perth office, said the final three months of 2012 have been the “busiest period” for the Perth office this year.
“Deals are still being done as we approach the Christmas holidays an unusual pattern,” he said.
“There are a number of encouraging examples, including one in Tayside, which sold after only a week and a half in late November, and achieved over the asking price of £500,000.”
Ruaraidh Ogilvie, of Savills Brechin office, said that “key prime areas” between Perthshire and Aberdeen are seeing the most activity, including locations close to St Andrews, the East Neuk, and in Aberdeen itself.
However, outwith these locations there is much more realism in the market.
“Buyers are there, but they remain canny, so deals are being done, but at restrained prices and closing dates are a rarity rather than the norm.
“Prime houses that are freshly launched to the market in the best locations, and sensibly priced, are selling.”
