A PERTH councillor said he is “enthused and excited” by the package of capital spending projects announced by the authority.
The £40 million plans include redeveloping Perth Theatre, improvements at the A9/A85, two new schools, and strengthening rural broadband facilities.
The convener of Perth and Kinross Council’s scrutiny committee, Councillor Alexander Stewart, said: “These projects are anticipated to bring significant economic development and benefit to the Perth and Kinross area and, in turn, will enhance commercial investment, offering increased employment opportunities, particularly in the construction sector, which has suffered considerably in the economic downturn.
“I also believe that some of these projects will have an anticipated increase in visitor numbers to our cultural attractions.
“This goes to show that Perth and Kinross is ‘open for business’ and it is vitally important that as many of our local firms as possible have the opportunity to bid for contracts.
“It proves that we, here in this council, are taking our responsibilities very seriously and are playing our part to provide economic opportunities for our constituents and communities alike.”
