Dundee University has been named the best workplace for academics in the UK for the second year running.
The accolade came from a survey for magazine The Scientist and the university was also named the sixth best in the world outside the USA.
A high ranking could boost the recruitment of researchers.
University principal Pete Downes said, “There are few institutions who have been as successful as Dundee in this survey since it began and year after year we have been identified as one of the best places in the world for academics to work.
“We continue to attract people from all over the world to come and work in Dundee.”
Professor Mike Ferguson, dean of research in the college of life sciences, said the attraction of Dundee for academic staff was its combination of “a high-powered research environment in a low-pressure living environment.”
The Scientist’s editor Jef Akst said, “Collaboration was a recurring theme among this year’s top-ranked institutions. It’s clear that scientists value the accessibility of fruitful partnerships to enhance their research.”
