Abertay University has promoted from within to fill a senior vacancy on its ruling body.
Retired civil servant Eddie Frizzell, who has been a member of the university court since 2006, has been appointed its vice-chairman.
He succeeds former Dundee councillor Joe Morrow, who has resigned.
During his career in public service Mr Frizzell was chief executive of the Scottish Prison Service, director of Locate in Scotland and latterly head of the Scottish Government’s enterprise, transport and lifelong learning department.
The court has suffered several resignations this year in the wake of the suspension and retiral of principal Professor Bernard King.
Mr Frizzell’s appointment comes at a crucial time as the university searches for a successor to Professor King, having fended off a call for it to merge with Dundee University.
