Dundee students’ rents among most affordable in the UK

Students in Dundee enjoy some of the cheapest rents in the UK, a survey has found.

However, their counterparts at St Andrews University are forking out almost 50% more.

Accommodationforstudents.com surveyed 78 towns and cities with universities. It found that the average weekly rent was £67.11 up 3% on last year.

Dundee was in the bottom six, with students paying an average of £56.79, but St Andrews was in the top six on £85.05. The most expensive place to stay was London, where rents averaged £108.03 per week, and charges in Edinburgh rose by 8% year on year.

Rent is just one factor for prospective students to consider Dundee and St Andrews universities were both ranked highly in this year’s student experience survey.
