People who are passionate about the NHS are being invited to apply to join the board of NHS Tayside.
The organisation with the responsibility for delivering care to around 400,000 people is looking for four non-executive members.
Successful applicants will be expected to make a commitment of around eight hours a week and will be paid £8,000 a year.
A non-executive member is expected to play a central role in guiding strategies which address the healthcare needs of people in Tayside.
While that sounds and is a massive responsibility, board membership is not aimed at an exclusive elite and a string of medical and managerial qualifications is not a prerequisite for applying to become a non-executive.
In fact, common sense and an ability to connect with people in communities are the qualities given high importance.
NHS Tayside chairman Sandy Watson said: ”Being a non-executive member of the board can be challenging, but also hugely rewarding. For a board to be successful we need members whose experience will differ one from another.”
