Birds Of A Feather is coming back to television after ITV signed up the original cast for a new series.

The programme, which originally ran on the BBC, starred Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson as sisters sharing a home in the posh Essex town of Chigwell after their husbands were sent to prison.

They will be joined by co-star Lesley Joseph, who played man-eater Dorien Green, in the revival which will be written by the show’s creators, Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran.

An ITV spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that we have commissioned a new series of Birds Of A Feather and we’re really excited to be welcoming Sharon, Tracey and Dorien to ITV. We will confirm more details in due course.”

The show’s three stars, who reunited last year for a stage version, will film eight episodes later this year.
