An eight-year-old DJ has been given his own show on a community radio station.
Cameron Boyes, from Hellifield in North Yorkshire, started out with a five-minute slot on Drystone Radio, and proved so good that he was awarded a regular one-hour show each Tuesday at 4pm.
Cameron, who also plays the guitar and sings, said: “I love being on the radio, it’s really good fun and I would like to do this as a job when I grow up.”
He plans to develop his show around schools in the community so they can become involved in helping to select the music to be played, and pupils can have songs dedicated to them and receive the all-important name check.
It is not the first time the station, which broadcasts to the Yorkshire Dales, has helped to foster young talent.
In 2010 DJ “Crazy Daisy” Watkiss was recognised as the UK’s youngest DJ at the age of nine, presenting her weekly Saturday show.
