Rangers v Hearts - a grim faced Hearts manager John Robertson
East Fife boss John Robertson has thrown his hat into the ring to become Hibs manager despite being a Hearts legend.
Robertson revealed his name has been forwarded to the Easter Road board as a potential replacement for the sacked Colin Calderwood despite spending most of his playing career as a Tynecastle hero.
He insisted his interest is genuine as eyebrows are raised right across Edinburgh at the prospect of tormentor-in-chief of the Hibees becoming their gaffer.
Robertson, whose Methil men have hit the headlines with their League Cup exploits this season, said: ”Have I applied for the job officially? No, but my name has been put forward by someone.”
As regards the furore his appointment could cause, he added: ”I would understand the fans’ reaction.
”When any club loses its manager, right away the supporters look for a perfect replacement someone who has played for the club and knows what it is all about.
”But I don’t think it necessarily works.”
