Livingston have snapped up former Dundee United and St Johnstone midfielder David Robertson.

The 27-year-old was out of contract after spending the second half of last season with Morton, where he was unable to help the Greenock outfit avoid relegation to League One.

Robertson turned down a new contract with first club United in favour of a move to St Johnstone in 2011, but the former Scotland under-21 cap broke his leg in his second season in Perth and failed to play another game for the club. He was handed a short-term deal by the Saints last summer but could not force his way into the team and signed in January for Morton, where he regained some fitness with 16 appearances.
