Raith Rovers battling injury problems

Raith Rovers have been dealt a big blow with the news that Christian Nade will be out for up to four weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The former Hearts and Dundee striker picked up the injury on his return to Dens Park for the League Cup defeat by the Dark Blues last week.

Stark’s Park boss Grant Murray had his fingers crossed the problem wasn’t too serious but the big frontman has now been fully assessed and it looks like he will have to sit out most of this month.

Another Rover, defender Craig Barr, faces a nervous wait to find out whether he requires an operation as he endures an injury-hit start to his career in Kirkcaldy.

Barr, who is yet to make his competitive debut for the Championship side, picked up a knee problem ahead of the new campaign and has struggled to return to full fitness.

Amid mystery surrounding the exact extent of his injury, the summer signing from Airdrie sought to clarify the situation on Twitter and revealed he may have to undergo surgery.

“I didn’t sign for Raith Rovers injured, I wouldn’t have completed a full pre-season if that was the case,” he wrote. “And it is not an old injury.

“I have a bit of fragmented bone inside my left knee which makes it sore to get above 50%. Had an MRI and saw a specialist. I will find out in next seven days if an op is needed.”
