Montorse kept their play-off hopes alive by fighting back from a goal down to hand Albion Rovers a defeat on their last outing before their Scottish Cup trip to Ibrox.
Montrose went close to scoring on 21 minutes when an Alan Campbell header was headed off the line by Barry Russell.
On 33 minutes, home keeper Stuart McKenzie made fine saves in quick succession from Mark McGuigan and Gary Philips.
Montrose pressed at the start of the second half and a Jonathan Crawford header was blocked just short of the line, then Graeme Webster sidefooted wide from great position.
Albion scored on 52 minutes when Philips headed home a cross from Chris Dallas. Montrose replied a minute later when Bryan Deasley crossed for Scott Johnston to score.
Two minutes later the turnaround was complete when Johnston played in Terry Masson to make it 2-1. Montrose held on comfortably for victory and David Gray shot just wide two minutes from time.
Montrose boss Stuart Garden said: “That was a great victory and thoroughly deserved. Some of the football we played was great, especially in the second half.
“Scott Johnston was magnificent up front and the movement in and around him was excellent. I was disappointed to go behind to a soft goal but our response was great.
“All credit to the boys for their attitude and desire. We are making a late run for the play-offs and we have a great chance.
“We have had just one defeat in six, so we are building a bit of momentum. We could have scored more goals, but to come back from a goal down to win was all I could have asked for.”
