Jordan Moore gives Jim Jefferies food for thought

Dunfermline boss Jim Jefferies admits on loan Dundee United striker Jordan Moore has been giving him some food for thought in recent weeks.

The 19-year-old netted his eighth goal of the season in all competitions for the Pars at the weekend after coming on as a late substitute and is continuing to push hard for a place in the first 11.

Moore’s injury time strike sealed a 4-2 victory for Jefferies men, keeping the Pars in second spot in League One, and his manager may well have a decision to make ahead of this weekend’s trip to Arbroath.

“I was glad that he scored because it was a great move,” Jefferies said.

“He showed the skill he is capable of. If you look back he has scored one or two important goals. I thought about starting him after scoring last week but I think he makes a real big impact when he comes on from the bench. There will come a time when he will get a start. We started him against Airdrie and he missed a penalty and two or three good chances.

“He was one on one with the goalkeeper so at least he cannot chap my door and argue because I could just bring that up.

“But he has fitted in well with the boys. He can be a wee bit frustrating at times but you can see that there is something in there.”

Under new loan rules, Jefferies will only be able to extend the loan deal for one of the two United players he has on loan in January if that is what he decides to try to do.

Like Moore, midfielder Ryan Ferguson’s current deal at East End Park is also up at the end of the month, while defender Luke Johnston the third United player who had been on loan at the Pars made the switch to Montrose after his loan was ended early.
