Forfar boss still looking for first win

Forfar boss still looking for first win

The stop-start nature of Gary Bollan’s time in charge of Forfar continued last week when the Loons’ trip to Cowdenbeath was called off.

The Station Park boss is hoping to get his first win against visitors Stranraer today.

Bollan said: “We played a friendly against a local junior side last Saturday but we only got 50 minutes before the weather forced that to go off as well. However training this week has been fine and we are ready to go.

“We had Stranraer watched in midweek when they played Albion Rovers and they did well to keep their winning run going. Willie Gibson is a really big player for them and I cannot say that I am too disappointed that he is suspended.

“He would have been a thorn in our side however we cannot relax too much as whoever their manager Brian Reid brings in will be out to keep the jersey.”

Brechin’s failure to win their last two games has saved Bollan’s side the discomfort of going to the bottom of the table, however Bollan is taking little comfort from that.

He said: “We know that we have to get points on board as soon as possible to turn our season around. Stranraer have shown what can be done when you go on a run and put wins together. I believe that we have a squad capable of doing something similar and hopefully winning this game will kick start our campaign.”

Michael Travis misses out with a knee injury however new recruits Euan Spark from Dundee United and ex-St Johnstone youngster Gareth Rodger have been added. Bollan has also been in discussions about bringing an experienced striker on board, however the deal has not been pushed over the line yet.
