Cowdenbeath v Hamilton: Reserves grab Cameron’s attention
ByCraig Smith
Cowdenbeath’s fringe players have given Colin Cameron some food for thought ahead of Saturday’s game with Hamilton.
The manager was disappointed with his team when they lost 2-0 at home to Alloa on Saturday but was buoyed in midweek by the Blue Brazil’s reserve side as they routed the Wasps’ second string 7-1.
And that type of result has certainly made the Cowden boss sit up and take notice.
“The reserves were basically all the boys who were on the bench on Saturday and a few of the younger ones, and they have done really well,” he said.
“The likes of Andy Russell, Kyle Miller, Lewis Milne, Dean Brett were involved, and Marc McKenzie would have been if he was not injured.
“Kyle scored four goals and Andy scored three, so they are going about their business in the right way and that’s what I want to see.
“They are doing what they can to try and impress and they’ve given me something to think about when it comes to picking the team on Saturday.”
Midfielder McKenzie, who has a tight hamstring, remains Cameron’s only doubt going into the home game against the league leaders.
