Geoff Brown steps down as chairman of St Johnstone

There was drama at McDiarmid Park this morning as the club’s unveiling of Steve Lomas as their new manager was accompanied by the surprise announcement that Geoff Brown has stepped down as chairman.
Widely respected in the game, Brown has guided Saints with a steady hand since taking control in May 1986 and was Scotland’s longest-serving chairman with over 25 years in the hot seat.
He will be succeeded by his son Steve, who was instrumental in the appointment of both Lomas and his assistant manager Tommy Wright.
