Brechin boss Darren Dods hoping for perfect start to vital stage of the season

Brechin boss Darren Dods is hoping for another Peterhead pick-me-up when Jim McInally’s side visit the Glebe this afternoon.

The League One strugglers posted their first win of the season when they played the Blue Toon at Balmoor back in September and they then went on to win and draw their next two games.

Dods is hoping his side can record another victory over Peterhead this afternoon to set City up for an important spell which sees them play three out of their next four games at home.

The player/manager said: “We will have Willie Dyer and Craig Molloy back from suspension while Dene Shields was on the bench last week and is raring to go again which is a big bonus.

“His return gives us a lot of options up front with Andy Jackson, Robert Thomson and Isaac Layne.

“It is still at the back where we are still a bit short after David Bates returned to Raith and the bad injury suffered by Ross Perry.

“So I will just have to keep pulling the boots on.

“We have a really important spell coming up with the next three out of four games being at home.

“We are still at the bottom of the league but we have definitely not become detached and a win against Peterhead would put us right back in there.

“They had a good result at Forfar in midweek but we can take confidence from the fact that we have beaten them already this season.

“After that we had a good wee spell.

“It is sometimes difficult when we play at home as teams sit in but hopefully we can give our fans something to shout about at the Glebe on Saturday and then take it from there.”
