Dundee United are staying “totally relaxed” over the future of Scott Allan.
The 19-year-old midfielder, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season, has been offered a new three-year contract by the Tangerines.
They are confident he will follow the likes of Johnny Russell and Stuart Armstrong and continue to learn his trade at Tannadice.
Allan has only played only four times for his club against Slask Wroclaw, Hearts, St Mirren and Celtic but has shown up well, while also catching the eye in the Scotland under-21 side.
That has led to his being linked with moves Celtic, Rangers, Newcastle and even Manchester United.
Should anyone want him, United would be entitled to a payment of approximately £450,000 in compensation for the part they have played in his development.
However, there has been no contact made with anyone at Tannadice and those reports are not being treated seriously.
Manager Peter Houston aid: “We have offered Scott Allan a new contract and he is away speaking to his dad about it.
“Knowing what that offer is, if I were a young lad of his age I would bite the club’s hand off.
“So we will wait and see.”
He added: “The situation is no different to when we offered Johnny Russell, Stuart Armstrong or any of the other young boys who have broken into the team new deals.
“I am totally relaxed about it.”
Allan could sit out Saturday’s home game against Rangers because of a thigh strain.
