Nicky Riley making his comeback from injury was one of the few positives Dundee could take from Saturday’s disappointing defeat at Cowdenbeath.
The 27-year-old had last featured for the Dark Blues on December 28 against Dumbarton, a game where he picked up a calf injury for the first time in his career.
He made his return in the 55th minute at Central Park to a great ovation from the travelling support but the winger was unable to alter the outcome of the clash with the Blue Brazil.
However, he is keeping his fingers crossed that he will now be able to stay injury free for what he hopes is a title run-in.
He said: “From a personal point of view, it is great to get back playing again. I really appreciated the ovation from the fans when I came on.
“It would also have been nice to come back with a victory but it wasn’t to be today. It was the game against Dumbarton on the 28th when I picked up the tear in my calf.
“I have been back training for the last couple of weeks just building it up. I have never had a calf injury before so it was really frustrating as I didn’t know how long it would take to heal.
“Like any injury, they always seem to take longer than you would hope. It took a wee while for the tear to settle down and fully heal but hopefully that is it sorted now and I can push on for the last bit of the season.”
