Dundee United brought an end to a four-game losing streak with this hard-fought draw with Inverness.
On balance of play, the result was probably a fair outcome and the point will have been a welcome one for under-pressure Tannadice boss Jackie McNamara.
The Tangerines stormed into an early lead through their No.7 Billy Mckay in the seventh minute with the striker finishing off a sweeping move, poking the ball in from close range against his former side.
The Tangerines should have increased their lead just four minutes later when the ball was teed up on a plate for John Rankin but his shot was saved with his foot by ICT keeper Owain Fon Williams.
The keeper came to the rescue again in the 25th minute, pulling off a great diving save to keep out a 22-yard shot by Mckay.
The second half started slowly but United were stunned in the 56th minute when Caley equalised.
Ryan Christie hit a corner from the right with Josh Meekings bulleting home a header at keeper Luis Zwick’s back post.
United huffed and puffed looking to go in front once again and they did have the ball in the net in the 87th minute but Simon Murray’s goal was ruled offside.
