St Johnstone defender Frazer Wright is hoping to secure a new two-year deal at McDiarmid Park.
The former Kilmarnock defender, who was on top form at Tannadice on Saturday, revealed he has begun talks with the Perth club.
The signs are positive that he could soon become the latest player to commit his future to Saints.
He said: “I met the chairman about my contract last week and we are just trying to iron a few things out and hopefully get it sorted.
“I had an option of a year on the same terms. But I’m trying to be greedy and get a two-year deal from the club rather than just one.
“If I sign a one-year deal that takes me to 34, but I think I have done all right for the club since coming here and this is an important decision for me.
“It was a big call leaving Kilmarnock after so many years there but my decision has definitely been justified.
“We have had two top-six finishes, making Europe last season and pushing for it again.
“I’ve really enjoyed it here and hopefully we can get it done and dusted. Getting a two-year deal and making Europe again would be just perfect.”
Europa League qualification may hinge on getting at least a point against Celtic at the weekend, but Wright insists the players are not daunted by the challenge.
“We have done it before,” he said. “It’s been a long season but we are nearly there now and still in with a chance of third place and Europe. Hopefully we can get over the line.
“Inverness had a great result at the weekend and they have the advantage. But there is nothing we can do about them.
“We have Celtic then Motherwell. We have to take as many points as we can from those two games and see where it takes us, with Ross County and Inverness playing each other at Dingwall on the last day.
“The way things are right now, we might have to go to Parkhead and win, which would be a hard thing to do.”
Manager Steve Lomas credited the Saints fans for helping their team to the derby win by heading to Dundee in large numbers and making their voices heard, and that was a view shared by Wright.
He said: “There was a great turnout from the fans and we heard them all through the game. It gave us all a lift when we came out for the start of the match and saw so many had made the trip. Even during the warm-up they made themselves heard.
“The timing of the derby win was perfect with the club’s player of the year do at McDiarmid on Saturday night and the SPFA bash on Sunday in Glasgow.
“It made for a good weekend for the lads. It is always hard going to a fans’ event on the back of a defeat, and a win lifts everyone. The goal celebrations showed that we are all in it together and desperately want to win.
“That is obvious in the wee fall-outs on the park as well. It shows how much we care and it’s all forgotten afterwards.”
Wright added: “It was a brilliant result for us at Tannadice. It was great to go there and get a win.
“That is the first time I have come out on the winning end of a derby game with United. I knew we hadn’t won there in a while and the fans enjoyed it as well.
“It was a win we deserved. We had a few chances and I can’t remember Alan Mannus having much to do.”
