A man who has fathered 15 children with a string of different women has been given a life sentence for stabbing a man to death outside a Dundee pub.

Jamie Cumming sliced through James Getty’s heart, lungs and liver outside the Maltman pub after a row at a birthday party.

During sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh judge Lady Clark of Calton told the 36-year-old that he must serve at least 17 years before he can ask for parole.

“A man has died – as the jury found – as a result of your actions,” she said.

The trial heard that medics would have been unable to save the 29-year-old victim, even if the stabbing had been in a hospital car park.

Cumming tried to blame someone else for the attack on the corner of Mains Road and Mid Road last June 1 but a jury found him guilty of murder.

Father-of-three Mr Getty had gone to the pub for a fiftieth birthday celebration for James Kelbie before he clashed with Cumming in the pub toilet.

He came out, bleeding from a gash above his eye – telling friends that Cumming had punched him before leaving the pub.

Cumming followed his victim and Mr Kelbie – who the killer tried to blame for the stabbing – attempted to separate the struggling pair.

Mr Getty collapsed with blood pouring from his chest moments later and died before he could reach Ninewells Hospital.

Two years ago Cumming was described as “Britain’s most feckless father” after his own mum, Lorraine, branded him a sexual predator who loved chasing teenagers.
