Public urged to engage with consultation on 20mph zones in Dundee

Members of the public are being urged to take part in a city-wide consultation that could result in 20mph zones being created in Dundee residential areas.
The council wants people’s views on where the reduced speed limits would be appropriate and whether they would benefit road safety in each community.
Councillor Will Dawson believes the schemes would be beneficial. He said: “The number of accidents in the Dundee is at an all time low but one injury is one too many.
“It is vital that we investigate any measure that can help us reduce accidents and injuries in the city.”
Consultation runs until the end of June and views can be shared via the Dundee City Council website or by completing a questionnaire available from Dundee House and the east and west district housing offices.
The Courier last month revealed that Dundee has a rate of people killed or seriously injured in collisions that is more than 50% above the national average.
