The robber demanded cash at the shop on Teviotdale Avenue.

Police investigating a robbery at a store on Teviotdale Avenue in Dundee, in which a shopkeeper was threatened with a “huge knife”, returned to the scene of the crime.

Officers spoke to local residents, dog walkers and motorists on Tuesday night to gather information that could assist them with their inquiries into the incident, which happened at 8.15pm on December 15.

Police say they have already carried out extensive inquiries into the incident, including door-to-door and CCTV reviews.

Officers now hope that returning to the crime scene will help to identify further witnesses who may have seen or heard suspicious activity, before, during or after the crime.

Speaking shortly after the incident, victim Nadeem Rao, 46, told The Courier: “The man came in to the shop wearing a grey balaclava to hide his face.

“He opened the counter door, threw the bag on the floor and said: ‘Put all your money in the bag.’ I thought he was joking. I said: ‘Go away!’ But then he waved the knife and came forward.

“I then realised that he had the knife in his hand and I told him I would give him the money. I started taking the money out and putting it in the bag and he said: ‘Hurry up or I’ll kill you’.

“The knife he had in his hand was really big.”

Detective Inspector Nicky McGovern said: “This was a particularly alarming crime, in which the suspect managed to make off with a three-figure sum of money.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to speak to our officers and help us with our inquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101.
