Missing Allan Bryant: Family will stick with Facebook friends rather than psychics who ‘feed off grief’

Marie and Allan admit they turned to mediums in a bid to solve the mystery of their son's disappearance.
Marie and Allan admit they turned to mediums in a bid to solve the mystery of their son's disappearance.

The father of missing Glenrothes man Allan Bryant says he will no longer use psychics in the desperate search for his son.

Allan Bryant Snr says mediums “just feed off people’s grief” and has dismissed the possibility of him or his wife, Marie, using them in the future.

This is despite the College of Policing recently claiming that officers should not entirely rule out assistance from clairvoyants.

“I’ve had enough of them,” Mr Bryant told The Courier. “Marie went to see a couple of them but they just gave us false hope.

“We were told that Allan was in a couple of places, or had been chopped up and other things.

“I don’t believe in them but Marie wanted to give it a try. They just feed off people’s grief.”

Allan Jnr was last seen leaving Styx nightclub in Glenrothes in the early hours of Sunday November 3 2013.

Despite a high-profile campaign from both police and Allan’s family, there remains no trace of him to this day.

With donations Allan Snr has purchased a van covered with images of his son, while posters appealing for information can be found throughout Fife.

Meanwhile, Police Scotland has maintained that there has never been any evidence of criminality linked to Allan’s disappearance.

Central to the effort of finding the 25-year-old is a Facebook page established by the Bryant family, which this week hit 50,000 followers.

Thanking the public for their support, Mr Bryant said: “It’s hard to say what we would do without the support we get from the page.

“Even when I say I’m not going on Facebook I get messages from people saying that they will keep it going.

“It’s just amazing and it’s from people all over the world.

“I showed Marie some of the messages that we had received from people and she was staggered.

“It gives us that extra boost and energy to keep searching for Allan and I can’t thank everybody enough.”
