Anstruther mobile chippy boss Murray Cameron is setting off across the Channel today on his second royal mission to Monaco.

The 49-year-old, who runs Murray’s Chippy van, has once again been invited by Prince Albert II of Monaco to serve fish and chips to guests at the Monte Carlo Whisky Conference, which takes place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Murray will be joined by his wife Irene, 46, on the trip and will also be bringing his own chipping machine to cope with the anticipated demand.

“If it is anything like last year, it’ll be non-stop so we want to be prepared,” said Murray.

“Prince Albert told us he enjoyed our fish and chips very much and many of his guests also paid us compliments saying they had never tasted fish like ours before, which was very nice to hear.”

The prince enjoyed Murray’s company so much that he asked to meet him again during a visit to Islay earlier this year.

“He flew over in his private jet for lunch which was also attended by the whisky convention organiser, Anita di Sotto,” said Murray.

“During the lunch he very kindly donated a signed, framed print to auction in aid of the East Neuk Wheelchair Appeal.”

Murray and Irene will attend a gala banquet on Saturday evening with Prince Albert where entertainment will be provided by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Organiser Anita di Sotto said: “The event is all about building ties between Scotland and the principality of Monaco.”
