Tim Burgess and Mark Collins bring The Charlatans acoustic show to The Doghouse

The Charlatans vocalist Tim Burgess and guitarist Mark Collins are playing a series of intimate live shows across the UK, which brings them to the Doghouse in Dundee on Sunday.

The shows will see the prolific songwriters performing acoustic and reworked versions of songs from a back catalogue spanning over 20 years.

The pair first played the new set at a small show in Manchester last year and had such an overwhelmingly positive reaction they decided to take it out on the road.

Tim said, “Mark and I will be going out on an acoustic tour to coincide with 10″ EP Warm Sounds. There were venues around the country where I had seen bands and had been jealous of the intimate nature of the gigs the size of the gigs we were playing in the UK in 1990 but have only had a few chances to since.”

Supporting The Charlatans on the tour is up and coming singer-songwriter Aaron Wright. With a list of musicians playing on his album that reads like an A-Z of some of Scotland’s top players, Aaron has obviously made some good friends in the music business.

He said, “I’ve really enjoyed my first nights on tour with Tim and Mark. I was a fan of them when I was at school and it feels great to not only be on my first support tour but for it to be with the Charlatans. It makes it all that much better.

“We will be doing a few dates around the UK so hopefully I will be able to pick up a few tips from them and find out their secret of how to stay at the top of your game for 20 years, and win over a few of their fans of course.”

Tickets are still available online or on the door.
