T in the Park fever hit Dundee again as music lovers queued overnight to snap up tickets for Scotland’s biggest festival.
Grouchos in Nethergate had sold out of their full allocation by 10.30am on Friday, while online outlets were sold out before 10am less than an hour after tickets went on sale.
A gathering of fans snaked round the corner from Groucho’s on to the West Marketgait, with some arriving 16 hours before they were able to get their hands on a pass for the weekend at 9am on Friday.
The line-up for this year’s event, on July 8, 9 and 10, was announced on Tuesday and the gathered crowds were determined not to miss the big names that will be on show at Balado.
At the front of the queue was Derek Kelbie (16), a student from Polepark, who got in practice for T in the Park by setting up camp with his friends at 5pm on Thursday.
But Derek and pal Scott Dolan (17), a student from the Hilltown, were not worried about the overnight stay on the street or the rain that they had to brave on Friday morning.
“It had its ups and downs but was well worth it at the end of the day,” said Derek.
Frank Mills of Groucho’s said that the queuing numbers were down on what they had seen in previous years.
“A lot of people get tickets as soon as it’s over so by this time a lot of people have already got their ticket and it was very cold out there last night,” he added.
