A new experience in clubland comes to Dundee’s Reading Rooms on Saturday night when those Rhumba Club boys, in partnership with Edinburgh’s Progression and Musika, bring Spektrum Nights.
With the more intimate setting, Spektrum Nights and the Rooms hope to give a better customer experience than the normal huge club night.
Paul Grieve from Spektrum Nights told Rocktalk, “Our aim is to introduce some of the world’s finest DJs and producers and complement this with a recognisable heritage host.
“To start the party off we are looking to bring a good friend of Dundee and a great friend of the Spektrum nights team Jon Carter. Formerly Mr Sarah Cox, Jon has a lot more to offer.
“As part of the Big Beat Electronica movement, Jon went on to be signed to the legendary Wall of Sound Record Label. Jon tore the roof off the rooms last time he came to Dundee and says he is in love with the city.”
Jon is in fact good friends with The View, having hosted secret gigs by them this year as the proud owner of trendy Camden Boozer The Lock Tavern.
“Edwin Oosterwal is our next offering,” Paul says. “As a part of the thriving Amsterdam scene, Edwin made the move to head to New York, a move that worked out as he is now studio partner and runs his label with Joris Voorn.
“Edwin is an industry favourite and we hope he likes Dundee for a party and Dundee likes him.”
Edwin already has links to Dundee, with his grandfather being part of the Discovery expedition to the Antarctic he was one of the coal team.
Entry on Saturday is £8/£10, from 10.30pm.
Before that, Friday night sees the return of the hugely popular Mungo’s Hi-Fit, featuring a special appearance by Pupa Zeb and Daddy Scotty. Doors open at 10.30pm for that one, too.
