Get your affairs in order in Make a Will Month

Heart Research UK has teamed up with Calders solicitors in Dundee to promote the importance of making a will.

Until the end of May Calders will provide a special will writing service, waiving their usual fee but providing the same will service and legal advice – in return for a donation to Heart Research UK.

This means that instead of paying the solicitor you will be invited to make a minimum donation of £50 per Will to HRUK (or £75 for a pair of basic ‘mirror’ Wills).

Writing a will is important as it puts you in control of your affairs, making sure that your plans can be actioned and your wishes respected. It can also save potential disputes among family members and removes any doubt about who you want to leave your estate to, avoiding any unnecessary legal complications for your loved ones after your death.

Fran Shilton, head of income at Heart Research UK, says: “Wills are expensive and start from as much as £150+VAT, which is why many people put them off. But your family and friends will be devastated by your loss and it will make it that bit easier if you leave a will.

“With our Make a Will Month all you have to do is make a minimum donation of £50 and you will get the same service for a fraction of the cost .

“What’s best is the money will go to Heart Research UK, who will spend it on benefiting people in Scotland,” she continues.

To take part in Heart Research UK Make a Will Month all you need to do is contact Emma de Vos at Calders on 0138 222 4391 this month and quote ‘Heart Research UK Make a Will Month’.
