Four in court accused of ‘wooden pole’ brawl in Dundee street

Four people were allegedly involved in a brawl on a city street.

The four appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court following an incident where people were allegedly fighting with sticks or wooden poles on Fleming Gardens South.

Victoria Higgins, 27, Daryl Paige, 26, Jabar Aziz, 44, and Ranjo Ali, 31, all appeared on petition.

Higgins, of Fleming Gardens South, is charged with threatening or abusive behaviour by engaging in a fight, along with others, and a further three charges of assault.

She is charged with assaulting Diman Bakir by pushing her to the ground, repeatedly punching her on the stomach and pulling her hair, to her injury.

And she is charged with assaulting Ranjo Ali by punching him and scratching him on the face, to his injury.

She is also charged with assaulting Jabar Aziz by punching him on the head.

Higgins was in court alongside Paige, as the two are on the same petition.

Paige, of South Road, is charged with threatening or abusive behaviour by engaging in a fight, along with others, and brandishing a stick or wooden pole.

Aziz, of Fleming Gardens South, and Ali, of Crathie Place, both appeared in court together on a separate petition relating to the same incident.

Aziz and Ali both face two joint charges, the first for threatening or abusive behaviour by brandishing a wooden pole or stick and engaging in a fight, along with others.

They both face a second charge of assaulting Victoria Higgins by striking her on the head and body with a wooden pole or stick, to her injury and disfigurement.

All of the accused made no plea in relation to the charges.

The case was continued for further inquiries and all four were given bail.
