Two couples battled it out with each other in a Dundee street, with two people holding knives.
Witnesses filmed the fight on Spey Drive in Menzieshill in April as Mark Thomson and John Phinn confronted each other, while Thomson’s wife Yvonne seriously assaulted Phinn’s partner Danielle Mitchell.
Ms Mitchell ended up in hospital with a 5cm laceration to her head, the sheriff court heard, although it was not thought to be caused by a knife.
Yvonne Thomson, 38, of Deveron Crescent, admitted assaulting Ms Mitchell on April 17, pulling her hair and repeatedly striking her head with a baton, pulling her to the ground and holding a knife to her head, all to her severe injury, while on bail.
Mark Thomson, 40, described as a prisoner at Perth, and John Phinn, 42, of Cunningham Street, both admitted behaving in a disorderly manner, brandishing a bottle, knife and a baton, engaging in a stand-up fight and committing a breach of the peace, while on bail.
Fiscal depute Syma Rasheed said the women had met earlier in the day and there had been an argument, with Ms Mitchell apparently being held back by someone unknown.
Later that day Phinn and Ms Mitchell were met by the other two accused and witnesses saw the assault by Yvonne Thomson on Ms Mitchell.
Ms Rasheed said footage from CCTV and a mobile phone showed both incidents and the knives being held by Phinn and Yvonne Thomson.
Solicitor Anika Jethwa, for Yvonne Thomson, said the injury to Ms Mitchell’s head was from a blow by the baton, not the knife.
Thomson had the baton as a consequence of the earlier meeting between the two women.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael jailed Yvonne Thomson for 15 months for and sent Phinn and Mark Thomson to jail for six months.
