Man accused of double Boxing Day stabbing at Dundee street

A 25-year-old man accused of stabbing two people in Dundee on Boxing Day has been remanded in custody.

Kevin Mullen, of no fixed abode, appeared in private before Sheriff Derek Reekie at Dundee Sheriff Court on a petition.

He appeared from custody and was represented by solicitor Jim Laverty.

It is alleged that Mullen possessed two knives at Gruinard Terrace and elsewhere in Dundee on December 26.

He is also accused of assaulting his former partner Natalie Patterson by striking her on the body with a knife to her severe injury at Gruinard Terrace on the same date and assaulting Gary Anderson by striking him on the body with a knife to his severe injury at the same place on the same date.

Mullen is also accused of possessing cannabis at Keswick Terrace on the same date.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody while the case was continued for further examination.

Police officers descended on the scene of the alleged assault in the early hours of Boxing Day.

The street was cordoned off while forensics officers and uniformed police conducted inquiries in the area.
