Woman drank whole bottle of Jack Daniels at Dundee flats block then struggled with police

A woman who drank an entire bottle of Jack Daniels on top of her medication ended up committing a breach of the peace and struggling with police officers.

Amena Gibb, 24, of Rattray Street, Monifieth admitted that on November 19, at Dens Road and in a police vehicle en route to police HQ in Bell Street and at Bell Street, she behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm, shouted and swore, uttered threats of violence, struggled with officers and acted in an aggressive manner, while on bail.

Solicitor Stewart Hamilton told the court Gibb had drunk a bottle of Jack Daniels while in a flat with her friend, on top of her medication.

“It’s not something she would usually do,” he said.

Fiscal depute Claire Rowan said police were called to the common close in Dens Road when Gibb had started behaving aggressively and she was told to calm down.

However, she became threatening and abusive towards the officers and they tried to handcuff her.

They attempted to restrain her on the floor, but she was kicking, so leg restraints were applied and she was taken to the police vehicle.

In the vehicle, she continued uttering threats towards the police officers and was kicking her legs as she was taken into police HQ.

Sentence was deferred by Sheriff Alison McKay until November 19.
