A man who turned up at his partner’s home and launched an early-morning attack on her has been jailed.
Sean Cussick spent 10 minutes ringing Danielle Drumm’s doorbell and demanding she open the door to him.
And when he was eventually allowed in, the 27-year-old pinned down the former Big Brother hopeful and punched her repeatedly on the head.
His victim branded him an “animal” and said the year in prison he was sentenced to was “soft justice”.
Ms Drumm, 29, added: “He’s a danger to the public.”
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Cussick went to her home in the city’s Dunmore Street on December 20.
Fiscal depute Susan Ruta said: “Ms Drumm and the accused had been in a relationship for about eight years.
“At 5.30am Ms Drumm was asleep and the accused began to ring her door bell, shouting ‘Who have you got in there? You better open the door’.
“He continued to ring the doorbell, shouting and swearing for 10 minutes.”
Ms Ruta said Cussick was then allowed into the house, adding: “Ms Drumm ran towards the door and the accused began shouting at her about having another man in the house.
“He then pinned her on the couch and punched her four times on the back of the head.”
Cussick admitted assaulting Ms Drumm by repeatedly punching her on the head, and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly banging on the front door, shouting, swearing and demanding entry.
He also admitted resisting police officers Ian Storrer, Tony Weed and Alan Hunter by shouting, swearing, struggling and fighting with them in Alloway Terrace on October 23, and breaching a bail condition by approaching Ms Drumm on November 1.
The court heard Cussick had a similar conviction from 2014.
Cussick told the court he was attending anger management classes.
Jailing him for a year, Sheriff George Way said: “These matters merit a significant period in custody.”
Ms Drumm told the Tele: “I am shaken by that sentence. I thought he was going to get five years because of his history.
“I think that’s soft justice. He’s an absolute animal. He goes around thinking he’s indestructible.
“He’s put me in hospital with what he’s done to me. He’s a danger to the public.”
