Don’t just take the college’s word for it – hear what Lucas and Eve have to say about their time at Fife College.
Lucas Binnie is studying for a career in Professional Cookery and credits his time at Fife College with being in employment.
He said: “Studying at the college has absolutely helped to prepare me for my career. I am now a part-time cook in a care home in Kirkcaldy thanks to my course.
“I run the kitchen myself, feeding up to 32 people, so it can be a challenge but that’s what I love about it. The course helps develop an understanding of how things work in the industry and the skills I learned have been invaluable.
“I’ve loved every minute of studying SVQ: Professional Cookery at SCQF Levels 4 and 5. I love learning new skills and techniques so my demonstration class was my favourite.
“After completing the Level 5 course, my next step is on to Advanced Certificate: Patisserie and Bakery. After that, I plan on going on to HNC: Professional Cookery.
“Once I’ve totally completed my studies, my goal is to become a head or executive chef.”
Eve Sinclair studied for a career in Technical Theatre and Production Arts, and loved being able to study for her HND locally in Fife.
Eve said: “Studying at Fife College was great; it’s very accessible with all types of transport which was perfect for me as I didn’t drive when I first started, and there are train stations and bus stations right on the college’s doorstep.
“The HND: Technical Theatre and Production Arts course was good on paper but even better in real life. It offers everything from across theatre with all the different genres and departments.
“I found that, although there was paperwork and written aspects, the practical learning outweighed it which made the learning a lot simpler for me.
“Since completing the course, I have done a seven week assistant stage manager/deputy stage manager placement with Bard in the Botanics in Glasgow, and I am currently working as a casual technician with the Byre Theatre in St Andrews before returning to work again with Bard in the Botanics as an assistant stage manager on their pantomime at Christmas.”
